Mesquite, NV, July 17th @ 1:41 pm PACIFIC-
Both Northbound and Southbound Lanes by Mesquite on Mormon Mesa and by mm 112 Bunkerville Exit are backed up and loaded with traffic. People are reporting traffic for both sides is slow and backed up across the mesa in between Moapa Valley and Mesquite. Expect 45 minutes-1 hour+ for wait.
The closure of one lane and merging to the other lane is happening at about mm 114 on the incline and decline of the mesa. So expect to get stuck behind slower traveling vehicles.
Currently, the Bridge at Beaver Dam is only a short wait of about 30 minutes to get through, but it too is starting to see more congestion as the day goes on especially as the weekend home travel happens later today.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, Arizona Hwy Patrol, and Arizona Department of Transportation Enforcement have been lately pulling over and ticketing semi-truckers who were illegally taking Old Hwy 91 as trucks have a weight limit to travel on Old Hwy 91.
Also, the construction in Las Vegas at the Tropicana overpass and I-15 has begun if headed through or into Las Vegas.
Even though it rained last night, the weather is still hot. It also is extremely humid. A Red Flag is in place for Fire Risk. Make plans to have plenty of water and gasoline for the extra time. Also, check your tires.
Alternative Route for NB includes following Highway 93 to Crystal Springs, NV, and on to Caliente, NV. Turn on NV Route 319 into UT 56 and onto Cedar City, Utah, where you can get back on I-15. For Southbound, follow those steps in reverse.
The best times to travel with less traffic are early in the morning before 8:00 am Pacific and in the evenings after 10:00 pm Pacific.
