Mesquite, NV-

The Nonprofit Organization, R.A.I.S.E. Mesquite (Raising Awareness, Involvement, Support, and Engagement) along with the City of Mesquite Department of Athletics and Leisure Services are looking to add a little extra spectacular celebration to the Independence Day festivities. On July 4th, R.A.I.S.E. is hosting “A Wheely Good Time” Patriotic Decorating Contest and Parade. The event will be starting at 8:00 am on the West Field of the Mesquite Recreation Center at 100 W Old Mill Road.

Everyone will be decorating their bicycles, scooters, or anything with wheels with the “American” patriotic theme. There is one exception for the “anything with wheels”, there will not be any electric bikes, scooters, or hoverboards allowed for the decorating contest.

Also, anyone who is under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign them in for the registration of the event.

After the decorating is done, the finished displays of patriotism will be judged and winners will be announced with prizes to be handed out. The prizes include bikes, scooters, and a wagon. One of the big donors was All in Cycles who donated a couple of bikes for the event. Other donations were made by such businesses as Aravada Springs, Jackson Contracting, Adonai Landscaping, Mr. Taco, and H&H Framing.
