This is both a recreational and competitive level swim team program that focuses on teaching and promoting good sportsmanship, encourages self-esteem and teamwork, and is for ages 6 -17 years of age.
The announcement stated the team will officially begin practice on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, and will run until August, practicing every Monday through Thursday.
There will be 3 practices:
- 7:00 am – Advanced
- 8:00 am – Advanced
- 9:00 am – Beginner/ Intermediate
The Swim Team coaches will determine what level your child will qualify for. This will determine what time they will be at practice.
The Manta Rays will also have non-mandatory practice during “open swim” time which already began on May 10th and is every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 pm.
According to the Athletics and Leisure Services, the “purpose and philosophy of the program are to practice and develop strong swimming strokes and improve personal times and skills. This program emphasizes personal improvement.”
There is a fee for the program. This includes practice four days per week, T-shirt, and 3 Home Swim Meets. Away meets are also available for swimmer participation.
The program requires all swimmers wanting to join the program MUST be able to swim a minimum of 25 yards in Freestyle, Backstroke, and Breaststroke without touching the bottom, or sides of the pool, or have a Red Cross Level 4 certificate.
