Mesquite, NV, May 21, 11:00 am PST-
The EDC Festival has brought just under half a million people, but luckily the traffic on Interstate 15 has been way better than expected as traffic around Mesquite has been flowing surprisingly well.
Both northbound and southbound lanes were down to one lane (and at times shoulders) on top of Mormon Mesa south of Mesquite. However, NDOT surprised everyone by opening up the lanes to allow more traffic through, and actually doing what they reported to the media they would do.
So far this weekend, there are only minor slowdowns just south of Exit 118 Flat Top Junction in Mesquite and at the Virgin River Bridge Project by Beaver Dam as they go down to one lane.
So far the extra time for travel has been under 30 minutes. Things may change today and tomorrow.
Weather predictions are going to be hitting the 100s today and triple digits during the upcoming weekend, so make plans to have plenty of water and gasoline for the extra time.
The best times to travel with less traffic are early in the morning before 8:00 am PST and in the evenings after 10:00 pm PST.
