Time To Change Direction

After WWII, Christian pastors were pressured to change their message and standards, because those in secularized counseling and psychology were saying that preaching about sin was harming our nation.

Pastors in droves turned to this new kind of message, turning to psychology, sociology, and psychiatry, along with many Christian seminaries.

But the reality is that people don’t need therapy, instead they need to be saved, cleansed, renewed, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Most people aren’t sick; they’re sinful and need to be led to the truth and to their Savior, Jesus Christ.

We need to stop lying to others and ourselves. Drunkenness isn’t a disease; it’s a sin. Homosexuality isn’t an alternative lifestyle; it’s a sin. Adultery and fornication aren’t addictions to sex; They’re a sin.

And the cure isn’t giving platitudes or relief; rather it’s telling the truth and recognizing sin as sin.

What we’ve seen is that the cause of many people’s distresses is sin, and the cure begins when we recognized and acknowledge it as being a sin.

The Apostle John says, “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.” (1 John 3:4)

Another way to say this is, “Those who sin are opposed to God’s law because all sin opposes God’s law.”

Seeing that we’ve all sinned and we’re sinners by nature, then sin is falling short of God’s holy and righteous standards for life (Romans 3:23).

So, we need to call sin exactly what it is, sin, and stop covering it up with rationalizations or by saying it’s some sort of new morality, or our world has changed making the Bible no longer relevant, or that the Bible no longer speaks to our generation.

That’s a lie, which itself is a sin. We’re no different today than we were 2,000 years ago, and the same sin back then is the same sin today.

Therefore, it’s time the church changed direction and go back to the truth of God’s word and repent.

  1. Dear Christians,

Having been born into a man-made hell of an unimaginable kind, and soon thereafter experiencing several baby/toddler Near-Deaths, might be causing me to spontaneously write this, in random order:

The re-branding of established, historical names of churches to flowery titles within a short time period. That might indicate a coordinated effort between different “beliefs.”

Splitting off into many smaller “non-denominal” churches, many being located in vacant strip shopping centers, which made such possible.

“Central messages” being ripped apart by worsening current political dogmas.

Fractionalization into smaller congregations caused increasing competition, marketing, advertising…

Confused believers “playing musical pews and chairs,” even to the point of driving them to neighboring towns in search of spiritual fulfillment.

Abandoning of hymnal books with songs that were composed and sung for hundreds of years, replacing the with songs for different purposes.

    I wish you many Blessing.

  2. So right on. I’ve been there and done that and it is so interesting how I, we rationalize my, our sins to justify behavior. Unfortunately those excuses don’t pass muster with God!

  3. A very timely message. So sad that many churches and Christians as a whole have allowed the world’s philosophy to slip into their teachings abandoning the truth in order to be “socially” and “politically” relevant. We desperately need to get back to the foundations of our faith if we are going to see revival in our country. I praise God for placing my family and I in a church where the Gospel and God’s word is taught without compromise.

  4. Last night I watched a Zoom meeting about Near-Death Experiences. Its participants were adults talking about their own NDE experiences when they were children.
