The Lady Dawgs continue their “DOMINATION” Season into the NIAA 3A Southern Regional Playoffs today at 4:00 pm PST at Virgin Valley High School as they play host to the #8 seed of Sunrise Mountain Miners.

The Lady Dawgs have been nothing but exactly what their season has been nicknamed, “Domination”. They ride a 29-1 season record and 13-0 season record into the Southern Regional Playoffs today. Their high hopes are looking at winning the NIAA 3A Southern Regional Tournament and carrying that momentum into an NIAA 3A State Championship run and title.

The Lady Dawgs have all-around near perfect as they have scored a total of 361 runs this season while allowing opponents to score 78 runs. They average 12.03 runs per game while holding opponents to 2.6 runs per game on average.

They have won 12 games by shutouts, 9 of those games being in the last 11 games. The pitching has been undeniably strong with Riley Price leading as she has a season ERA of 0.48 with 224 strikeouts and 24 wins. Reggi Frei has helped with the strong pitching as the team has had 3 no-hitters for the season and 1 perfect game by Price.

On the offensive side, they have had three girls with 6 or more home runs; Riley Price with 12, Brooklyn Montoya with 7, and Ana Tausinga with 6. These three athletes also lead the team with RBIs, totaling all together 114 runs batted in.

The girls look to continue their “Domination” in good fashion as they take on Sunrise Mountain who they have already twice beaten both times by shutouts, 14-0 (April 6) and 10-0 (April 28).

They head into the Regional Playoffs with the number 1 seed for the Desert League. The other top teams are Moapa Valley as the #2 Desert League seed, Boulder City with the #1 Mountain League seed, and SLAM with the #2 Mountain League seed.

Their hardest challenge will be Boulder City as they have played the Eagles once before on March 23rd. The Lady Dawgs were able to squeeze out a win, 4-3. The Eagles started out the season rough, but have been really strong as of late, ending the regular season on a 9 game win streak and 8-0 in league play.

Again the Bulldogs Softball team carries their undeniably “Domination” Season into the Regional Playoffs today at Virgin Valley High School at 4:00 pm PST at the VVHS Softball Field, 820 Valley View Drive. The playoffs continue throughout the week as the higher seeds will host the lower seeds each round.

Good luck Ladies and Mesquite, go cheer them on!
