A little after 11:00 pm PST on Saturday, May 7th, the Mesquite Fire Department responded to a residential fire on E. Hafen Lane in Mesquite, NV.
The responding firefighters found fully engulfed vehicles on the side of the garage. Due to the height of the fire, the eaves of the roof were catching on fire, and immediately the firefighters were able to keep the fire constrained to the garage and not reach the main part of the house.
“The fire was primarily at the vehicles,” stated Mesquite Fire Department Captain Spencer Lewis. “The flames were so high it caught the eaves on fire, but luckily it was kept away from the actual house.”
After the fire was out, they discovered that 1 RV and 3 other vehicles parked on the side of the garage were complete losses. The garage had some fire damage the attic of the house had some smoke damage, as well as smoke smells within the rest of the house.
The homeowners were not home at the time, but a couple of pets were rescued with one dog receiving injuries. The injured pet dog was taken to a local veterinarian and is currently under medical care.
“The pet was found in a kennel and immediately was taken care of and looked after,” evaluated Captain Lewis. “We are currently investigating the cause of the fire and the source, which is not known at this time.”
The fire is currently under investigation and as being an open investigation, we will release more information as it becomes available.
