After weeks of rehearsal, the VVES play is approaching fast.  Students participated in auditions for the play in January of 2022.  After receiving parts, rehearsals began February 1st.  Students practiced at home and also rehearsed every weekday morning before school.  The students have shown a great deal of dedication and excitement as they prepared for this year end event.  Although the kids are the stars of this event, it would not be taking place without the work and dedication of the Virgin Valley Elementary School Music teacher and Play Director, Jenny Good.  Ms. Good has been teaching at Virgin Valley Elementary School for 15 years with a total of 21 years for Clark County School District.  She has enjoyed helping the students discover their unique talents and abilities when performing.  Ms. Good is joined by an amazing team of volunteers that make the play a reality for the students.

This is the 2nd time VVES has tried to put on Frozen KIDS. Unfortunately, after rehearsing from January 2020-March 2020, the school went to distance learning so the play was shut down three weeks before the performance. It has been a long two years for Mrs. Good, but she is so happy to finally get to put on the show. She actually has twelve students in the cast and crew that were third graders in our 2020 cast and are now in the 2022 production as fifth graders.

Recording rights were purchased to be able to make a single production recording and distribute it on DVD to the cast, so they can share their performance with family who are not able to attend. Other recording by audience members is prohibited by copyright.  The money for the play has come from donations and ticket revenue from previous years. The school hopes they can raise enough money with ticket sales to put on another play next year. Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased at the door or in advance at the office.

“Disney’s Frozen Kids” will be held on May 10-12, 2022 at 6:00 pm. at the Virgin Valley Elementary Multi-Purpose Room.  The play is based on the Disney film written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee. The music and lyrics are by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

Without the efforts of all of the behind the scenes volunteers, the play would not be as successful.  The following people are to be recognized for their efforts in supporting the students and school.

Assistant Director/Choreography: Mitzi Bender

Digital Scenery: Rick Frendt

Artists: Diana Frehner, Jenny Hughes

Costumes: Ashley Ellis, Susan Potter

Videography: Wes and Mekesha Boger
