The “Afternoon Blues in the Pavilion’ fundraiser held Saturday for the Virgin Valley Artists Association was a great success. The newly railed below ground pavilion behind the Mesquite Fine Art Center was the venue for the Mesquite Café Blues Band. This was a free event and a great crowd of about 200 people filled and surrounded the Pavilion.

The local band did a great set lasting 2 hours and Linda with the red gloves on had the crowd dancing to “Proud Mary” and other great hits plus some of their original songs. The kids loved it and it truly was an event for the whole family. Paul was on the guitar and the lead singer on several great tunes. Wayne was on harmonic and carried that blues sound. This trio provided great entertainment for all.

The donation glass buckets seem pretty full at the end and over at the food tables, people were even taking snacks for home. This turned out to be one special event and if you were not there you missed it big time. Most of those attending snuck into the Art Center which has some great pieces and even greater prices, so don’t miss stopping by and checking it out.

Be sure and check out the Mesquite Café Blues Band next time they appear. That will be May 7th at the Open House at the Women’s History and Cultural Center, 11 am to 2 pm, 225 N. Willow #23, Mesquite, NV, and later that night at The Mesquite Days Carnival and Fair at the Recreation Center 7:00 pm.
