After a rough season this past school year, the VVHS boys soccer team will begin their 2022-2023 season with a new coach, Raul (Junior) Flores. Flores has a huge love for the sport and currently plays on a soccer team himself. Asking Junior why he decided to take up the head coach’s position, he said, “I am thankful to have an opportunity to give back to my community, especially to our youth. Sports are a great avenue not only to stay healthy, but to learn about teamwork, work ethic, and the importance of consistency. It is a plus that I love to play soccer, and there’s nothing better than helping and sharing your passion with others.”

He will hopefully be joined by assistant coach, Abel Trujillo, who grew up playing soccer and continues his love for the sport by playing in the same league as Junior. These long-time friends, with their great knowledge of the sport, will hopefully take the soccer team far! 

The team is currently selling 3×5 soccer flags for $20 in order to raise money for their program. They were designed by none other than the head coach himself! The team will soon be selling more apparel such as shirts, hats, etc. Buying these flags will support the team in their costs for the year and definitely showcase some bulldog pride!

The flags are sold at the Rec Center concession stand during the Kick’s Soccer games on Saturdays from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. along with some delicious snacks and treats that also contribute to the team.
