Littlefield/Beaver Dam, AZ-
This Saturday, the One Wish 3rd Annual UTV Poker Run takes place in Beaver Dam and Littlefield communities to help raise funds for charitable causes and the One Wish Nonprofit organization. The event is scheduled to be on Saturday, March 26th at 10:00 am MST.
Kay Carnahan, local representative of One Wish and the Poker Run event gave the rundown on the event coming up.
“This is not just for a Good Cause, BUT a Great Cause,” said Carnahan.
One Wish is out of Cache Valley, Utah, and provides granted wishes for adults 18 and older who have life-threatening illnesses. It primarily serves Cache Valley, but recently has expanded out more to other areas. One of those areas is Littlefield and Beaver Dam as the last couple of previous years (excluding 2020 due to Covid) they held a poker run in 2021 at the same location known as Jones Flat in the Northwestern Arizona small communities of Mohave County.
“Last year was a success and everyone had so much fun, we are doing it again,” added Kay.
One Wish Cache Valley first started in 2011 by beginning granting wishes to adults who were facing these life-threatening illnesses.
“It is our hope to ease that burden for them and add some comfort and peace to their lives. Sometimes the things they need make their situation more comfortable for them,” said Carnahan. “Every time it is to make a lasting memory with their family or friends before that life-threatening illness takes over.”
The Poker Run will have registration tomorrow, Thursday, March 24th, at 571 N Ironwood from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. On March 25th at 6:00 pm at the Beaver Dam Bar, Registration will again be open while the band Natural Causes will be performing. The band Natural Causes is one of the bigger local bands from Northern Utah, headed by Mark Koelbel of KUTV Channel 2 News out of Salt Lake City. The band has volunteered its services for the cause.
The actual poker run will take place on Saturday, the 26th of March. Everyone will meet at 2768 E Sierra Vista Dr in Beaver Dam and will start there. The course will be a huge loop that will come back to the original start location.
“Usual poker runs are 7 cards, this one will draw 5 cards,” explained Kay. “Anything that can go on desert trails is welcome for the run; SxS, ATVs, Dirt Bikes, RZRs, and more are welcome.”
The run involves a $15 registration entrant fee, but there is also food being provided by Smoke ‘N’ Grind BBQ food truck as well as the famous sandwiches by Craig. There will be a raffle and auction which will help provide more finances for the charitable cause and help someone get their “one wish”. There are no cash prizes for the poker run, but there will be some prizes and items to be won. They will be selling T-Shirts for $15 each during the events. The shirts will include sizes Adult S to XXL.
“This will be lots of fun and great entertainment for everyone,” said Kay Carnahan. “Please come out and support this Great Cause.”
