The Virgin Valley Theatre Group brings a new celebrative edge to community theater next week as they present a unique and quirky comedy “Wedding Bell Blues or How The Virgin Valley Got Its Groove On” written by two of its own, Nancy Arnold and Susan Kjellsen. The original, musical comedy by two Mesquite residents will be performed this year with a once-in-a-lifetime chance for a young, middle-aged, or old engaged couple. One of the showings will have an actual live wedding be part of the performance, free of charge and with some prizes as well.
The contest was the brainchild of local community entertainer and Mesquite wedding officiant Ken Juber.
“Since the theatre play is about a wedding and I am now a wedding officiant, I thought why not make this fun and special for a couple and for those who attend,” said Juber.
The result was a contest for couples to enter where they get to be joined in matrimony by a fully licensed wedding officiant with a full wedding set-up and decorations and props with people in attendance. The winning couple will be married during one of the performances. The winning couple will be offered their choice of one of the following performance days: March 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, and 26. The service will take place during intermission onstage on the chapel set and will be a legal civil service marriage ceremony performed in the State of Nevada by Ken Juber, a licensed Nevada Marriage Officiant.
“It will be a simple civil ceremony on the chapel set,” stated Ken Juber. “However, this will help the couple start of their new life together with less financial strain as all the fees and decorations will be covered by the local theater group.”
The winning couple will also receive a one-night stay at Eureka Hotel and Casino and a $100 Gift Card/Certificate for Gregory’s Restaurant. This promotion was donated by Eureka Hotel and Casino. The theater group is also looking for other donations to give to the winning couple as “Congratulations” wedding gifts.
The performances will be on March 11th and 12th, March 18th and 19th, March 25th and 26th at 7:00 pm. Matinees will also be performed on March 13th and 20th at 2:00 pm. The Wedding Bell Blues which gives a glimpse into the kooky and crazy characters at a wedding will be performed at the Mesquite Community Theatre, 150 North Yucca in Mesquite. The cost of the tickets is $20.00. You can buy your tickets online at https://www.mctnv.com/ or https://www.vvtgnv.com/. You can also buy tickets at the box office at the Mesquite Community Theatre every Thursday 4-6 pm or 1 hour before each performance at the door.
Complete details, applications, eligibility, and contest rules will be available to all applicants VIA email by writing to Marriage Officiant Ken Juber at MesquiteMarriageMan@gmail.com.
“This is a truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a very unique fun-loving couple to share their special day on stage with a live theater audience,” stated Ken Juber with a smile. “We hope to see you there!”

Awesome…I’d like to attend on the night that the wedding takes place. Has a date been selected?
