Mesquite, NV-
The I-15 Southbound has been backed up starting on Thursday, March 3rd, night and still continuing throughout the weekend as the construction just South of Mesquite from Mile Marker 119 headed on the freeway until Mile Marker 110. The freeway is being backed all the way up past Ext 122 for Mesquite, Pioneer Blvd at times and people have reported being stuck in the construction zone for over 2 hours before getting through at the top of the Mesa by Carp Elgin and the Joshua Tree Recreational Area.
Some drivers were trying to avoid the construction zone by getting off at Mesquite and going through the back way down Riverside Road and by Bunkerville and hopping back on off Exit 112 right at the end of the construction zone as the hill goes up the mesa. However, drivers were finding another backup of traffic going down from the I-15 southbound exit 112 on-ramp all the way back to Bunkerville.
Expect the traffic to be this way most of the weekend as the NASCAR Racing Series takes place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Pennzoil 400 will be occurring all weekend. Also, dance teams are meeting in Las Vegas for a national competition as well this weekend for the Gold Rush, Revolution Championships. Another huge sporting event is the Mountain West Conference Championships for Basketball which starts Sunday and continues until Wednesday next week for the title championship game.

There will also be multiple concerts going on including the reappearance of Barry Manilow, a Las Vegas favorite at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort. Other concerts include Katy Perry at the Resorts World, Cheap Trick at the Stratosphere, Midland at the Virgin Hotels, and a free Buckcherry Concert on Fremont for RaceJam 2022.
Expect traffic to be backed up Southbound I-15 all weekend and then both Southbound and Northbound to have slow traffic on Sunday night as visitors and NASCAR enthusiasts will be racing back home.
