Beaver Dam, AZ-
The monthly lawnmower races at the Beaver Dam Racetrack in Beaver Dam, Arizona are gaining quite a bit of popularity as the weather warms up. This month surely had one of the biggest crowds ever. Spectators come from all over and watch the action and the track is surrounded by ATVs, cars, trucks, and lawn chairs, but there’s always room for more. This event is free to everyone.
The races are held on the Second Saturday of each month from November through May (the May races will be held on the first Saturday this year) and are a fun place to bring the entire family. Along with the racing action, this is a place to meet up with old friends and make new friends. The lineup begins at 10 am, Arizona time and racing starts at 11 am. Hungry? No problem as the Road Kill Grill serves up hamburgers, hotdogs, and chili for the price of a donation to the local food bank.

The most recent race held lots of action along with some mechanical issues that, like in any race, required a small break in the action. The “pit crew” jumped in and repaired the rigs so that the racing could continue.
The excitement included not only the racing but a driver nick-named “Wheelie” did a couple of laps popping wheelies on his lawnmower down the straightaways. The ever-popular helicopter made its appearance. It’s said that the pilot is a former resident and a fan of the races, so he flies down to watch the action. It’s definitely a highlight for the kids.
After the races stop by the Beaver Dam Bar & Station for some great entertainment. There is an area just outside of the bar where you can sit around the bonfire and visit with friends. Vendors are selling their handmade items, so you can pick up a gift for that special someone.
The track is located off Old Pioneer Road and Old Highway 91 behind the Beaver Dam Station & Bar. Follow all of the racing action on their Facebook page: BEAVERDAM LAWNMOWER RACING
