Nevada –
Different sources have leaked information leading to the expectations that Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak will be dropping the mask mandate at the newly scheduled Covid-19 Update Press Conference on Thursday morning, February 10, 2022, at 10:00 am.
This action by the Governor is in response to the recent suspension of mask mandates by other state Governors who are Democratic, including Governor John Carney of Delaware, Governor Ned Lamont of Connecticut, Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey, Governor Kate Brown of Oregon, and others. Even Governor Gavin Newsom announced yesterday that all inside mask mandates for those vaccinated will let expire at the end of next week. Delaware’s mask mandate ends Friday. Both New Jersey’s and Connecticut’s mask mandate is scheduled to end on March 7th. Meanwhile, the western Democratic powerhouse state, Oregon has its mandate expires on Tuesday.

Part of the decision came from the immensely massive drop-off of Covid-19 cases on reported cases in the last couple of weeks. The drop began on January 15th where the peak of the reported daily cases of 5,784 to where it was of yesterday, January 8th a reported daily cases of 1,348. Most of the newer cases were of the new Omicron variant which has been known to produce in most people, way weaker symptoms and health hazards. The Omicron started making its presence known in Nevada on December 14, 2021, where the huge increased spike of reported Covid cases began going from 638 reported cases to the 5,784 daily cases on January 15th and then down to the 1,348 cases of yesterday.
Several Republicans were not surprised by this action. Nevada Assemblywoman Annie Black explained why. “He’s reading the polling numbers and they’re telling him that in order to get re-elected he’s got to drop the mask mandate, but it’s too late. We will remember that Sisolak shut us down and masked our kids for the last two years. We will not forget.”
Assemblywoman Black stated, “Welcome to the Party, Governor Sisolak.”
The “Mask Mandate” has been in effect since the Governor signed into effect the Declaration of Emergency Directive 024 on June 24, 2020.
