Mesquite, NV-

The Golf Fore Kids Tournament Committee presented through representation by Karen Fielding a check to the Mesquite Salvation Army Director Bill Ennis on Monday, January 3rd at about 1:00 pm. The donation check was made out for $6,691 and was raised through the Golf Fore Kids Tournament entry fees and donations during the month of December before the holidays.

“We are so blessed by the Golf Fore Kids Tournament and people involved with it,” stated Ennis prophetically. “We wouldn’t be able to provide for our kids and have our Angel Tree project a success without them. Because of them, over 200 kids had Christmas this last year!”

The Salvation Army is located at 742 W. Pioneer Blvd, Ste D in Mesquite. It has helped coordinate assistance to 400-500 people per month as well as averaging over 200 kids per year receiving Christmas joys with the Angel Tree project. The funds from the hefty donation will help coordinate more assistance to families within the local community. This includes rent, utility bills, essential needs, and more. The funds will be used locally and not leave the area.

The Golf Fore Kids Tournament’s annual event final luncheon and awards ceremony took place on December 9th with cold weather and wild wind, but still brought in some of the best participation and results ever. This last event saw 568 golfers register and participated in the tournament which took place on four of the local golf courses. The courses included Conestoga, Falcon Ridge, The Palms, and the Palmer Course. This was the 17th year the charitable event took place.

Karen Fielding as the representative of the tournament and organization was more than exhilarated and joyous in being able to literally pass the check to the Salvation Army.

“I want to thank all of the golfers, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and the Mesquite community that assisted in making this year’s tournament another huge success,” said Fielding.

Ennis was more than happy to accommodate the acclamation given by Fielding. “Thanks to everyone! Karen, The Wurstens, the Committee, Mesquite Gaming, and all of the local communities. You all are the true driving force to the success of giving help to so many people.”

The Salvation Army is in the works for their next big event which is collecting backpacks and school supplies for the summer which will help students be able to have the needs for school filled.  If interested in finding out more information about the Salvation Army or volunteering, you may call them during operation hours at (702) 345-5116 or clicking the following link for their website: https://mesquite.salvationarmy.org/
